The Green Paper

For more Green Paper info e mail spencerj@efn.org

Several members of the Guild are in the early stages of writing a "Green Paper."

The exact identity of the paper will evolve as we put it together. It will depend on participation and people moving forward aspects of the paper that are important to them.

Basically, the idea is write a document that is the Guild's vision of what we would like to see Eugene evolve towards.

Many of us cannot claim to be enthusiastic about the corporate state. Much of what many of us value; a clean environment, quality relationships, community, democracy, personal/collective creativity is being replaced ever more thoroughly by a corporate designed, government assisted campaign of indoctrination pushing a value system focused on buying, selling and consuming above all else.

Increasingly, the affects of this state of affairs are accumulating as they degrade much of what we cherish and aspire to.

The Green Paper will include a set of principles, ideals and strategies that will describe a very different scenario. It will be partly descriptive, partly theoretical and very practical.

The Green Paper will address issues and topics such as our economy, food security, land use, health, transportation, local culture, environmental restoration, education, civic involvement, neighborhoods, media, how we fit into our bio region and more.

At the September Regional Permaculture Gathering, we put a good deal of effort into cultivating and gathering good ideas that will help with the Green paper. We will have a look at those ideas and we invite more ideas and participation.

We intend to present the Paper to the City and other civic entities. As of February, 2005, we are continuing with the Green Paper.
