Join us for a fascinating day of panels, discussion, new
friends and tools to make tangible progress
towards a vision for an Enduring Bio-Region
Our goal is to come away from the Conference with tangible
strategies that can be used to move us towards an Enduring
Bio-Region.
We will use the Conference to gain direction and momentum
for the 8th Annual
NW Regional Permaculture Gathering, September 11 and
12 at Maitreya Eco Village.

Neighborhoods and Local Culture including Jan Spencer,
Hope Marston, John Zerzan, Allen Hancock
The Two Sides of the Emerging EcoVillage/EcoCity Paradigm
Robert Bolman of Maitreya EcoVillage will show slides and
discuss the emerging EcoVillage/EcoCity Paradigm.
Susan Muir of the City of Eugene Planning Department will
place Rob's feet back on the ground where they belong.
Local Economies including Ravi Logan, Cary Thompson,
Mark Robinowitz

2 PM Workshops
What is Appropriate in Transportation, Housing and Technology?
Jan Vandertuin of The Center for Appropriate Transport will
discuss a sensible approach to transportation.
Todd Miller of Abode Natural Building Cooperative will discuss
the construction of natural, non-toxic, beautiful housing.
Jaime (?) from the Aprovecho Research Center will discuss
efficient wood burning and solar heating and other examples
of appropriate technology.
Spiritual Values and Consciousness Transformation For
a New Culture Ravi Logan and John Pitney
4 PM Plenary We will discuss the
outcomes of the panels and discussions and distill them
down to 3 or 4 usable strategies from each panel

7:15 PM Video, "The End of Suburbia."
A fascinating look at what may be in store for what we call
suburbia. What would happen if energy became too expensive
for people to afford the suburban lifestyle? Historical
footage from the age of innocence to interviews with researchers,
petroleum industry insider, petroleum geo phycisist, journalists.
This up to date documentary will certainly catch your attention.

Bike Tour the following day, Sunday
June 20 Join us for a land use bike tour to visit examples
of smart [sub]urban land use. Meet 12 Noon Olive and 10th,
[NE corner of the Eugene Public Library] We will visit downtown
infill, Maitreya Eco Village, East Blair Housing Co-op,
modest infill affordable housing, community gardens, West
Bank Bike Path to River Road via Rasor Park and visits to
Permaculture sites at Dharmalaya and Jan Spencer's place.
